A statewide heat wave has been declared across NSW

A statewide heat wave has been declared across NSW and is expected to last until Saturday.

We have some reminders to help you and those around you stay cool and safe:

•There is a fire ban 
•Check on the welfare of older people
•Stay hydrated, even if you're not thirsty it's important to keep up your fluids
•Keep the sun out by shading windows with curtains, blinds or closing shutters
•Keep windows closed during the day until it cools down and in the early morning
•If you don’t have an air-conditioner, try to spend time in an air-conditioned place like a shopping centre, library, museum or cinema
•When outdoors, stay protected from the sun by wearing a hat and sunscreen
•It's an offence for children, the elderly and pets to be left unattended in cars - it can be deadly
•Make sure the pets have plenty to drink
