- Changing Address – ensure that you let financial organisations & other important bodies know of your change of address.
- Keys – generally they will be provided on the day that the Tenancy Agreement commences (only when all monies & bond has been received) access to the property prior to move in or to drop off items is not permitted.
- Ingoing Condition Report – this should note the condition of the property prior to the tenancy commencing – should include video, photos & description. You have 7 days to add to the report, sign & return.
- Utility Connections - it is your responsibility to have the electricity, gas, telephone & internet connected prior to moving in. Sufficient notice should be given to allow connection to be set up. These services must be connected in your name.
- Setting up your rent payments – set up your rent payments so they get paid directly when due (arrange a few days prior to allow for weekends & clearances)
- Strata – If moving into a strata unit – there may be a requirement to let the building manager know so they can arrange covers on lifts etc also to be careful when moving belongings through common areas
- Contents Insurance – it is crucial that you have your own tenant contents insurance – it is important to note that should your goods be damaged by circumstances affecting the property (i.e fire, storm, power outage) then your goods & possessions are not covered by the owners insurance
